On July 4, 2019, Martin Garrix returned to the stage after a one-month hiatus caused by a severe ankle injury. The occasion marked the opening of his summer residency at Ushuaïa Ibiza, and that night he premiered a brand-new track, “These Are The Times.”
The song was co-written with Jamaican artist JRM, who is based in Los Angeles, and songwriter Brian Lee, who had previously collaborated with Martin on “Summer Days.” “These Are The Times” was officially released on July 18, 2019.
In September 2019, the track became the soundtrack of Martin’s second campaign with Axe. Their first collaboration had featured “Burn Out” in 2018, making “These Are The Times” another key moment in their ongoing partnership.
