In 2012, Martin Garrix teamed up with Jay Hardway for “Registration Code,” one of their earliest collaborations. The track was circulated to DJs and clubs in September 2012 before being released as a free download on October 10, 2012.

Built around a punchy big-room structure and melodic breakdown, “Registration Code” reflects the raw, energetic sound both producers were developing at the time. The collaboration marked the beginning of a creative partnership between the two Dutch artists, who had met while studying at the Herman Brood Academy in Utrecht.

The track’s lifespan in sets was relatively short, as their follow-up collaboration, “BFAM,” was released soon after and quickly gained stronger traction within the EDM scene. Still, “Registration Code” remains an early milestone in the Garrix–Jay Hardway story, capturing the moment just before Martin’s breakthrough year in 2013.
