Martin Garrix
BFAM
with Julian Jordan
“BFAM,” short for “Brother From Another Mother,” was released on October 16, 2012. The track was produced with Julian Jordan, whom Martin had first connected with on electronic music forums. Both later studied at the Herman Brood Academy in Utrecht, and Julian had already signed with Spinnin’ Records a year before Martin.
“BFAM” became Martin’s first single with an official music video. The release entered the Beatport Top 10, marking the first time a Martin Garrix track charted on the platform. It was an important early breakthrough in his career.
David Guetta declared ‘Supported in my radioshow!’
Avicii said : ‘Awesome record! Supporting in my livesets and radioshow!’
In November 2012, Martin gave one of his first print interviews in the Dutch magazine 7-Days. Around the same period, he received his first professional award from Dutch radio station SLAM!FM, following the growing attention generated
by his remix of Christina Aguilera’s “Your Body.”
“BFAM” stands as one of the records that introduced Martin Garrix to the international dance scene, months before his global breakthrough.
