JBL Academy

When JBL and Martin Garrix joined forces to launch the JBL x Martin Garrix Academy in 2022, it wasn’t just another brand collaboration, it was a mission. A mission to inspire, educate, and elevate the next generation of musical talent from around the world. Through a combination of mentorship, technical training, and real-world industry exposure, the Academy offers young artists a unique opportunity to grow, and potentially shine on the biggest stages.

Hosted in Amsterdam, the Academy runs as a multi-day bootcamp where a carefully selected group of emerging talents are invited to dive deep into the world of music production and performance. Participants are mentored by top-level professionals, including sound engineers, producers, and of course, Martin Garrix himself. From songwriting workshops to performance coaching and branding advice, the experience is designed to reflect the reality of today’s music industry.

More than just lessons, the Academy provides gear, studio time, and networking opportunities that are usually out of reach for unsigned talent. It’s about opening doors — and letting new voices in.

Spotlight on Talent:

Where the Academy Begins to Echo

Since its launch, the Academy has welcomed a growing number of hand-picked participants, each bringing their own sound, ambition, and story. Among the standout names from early editions is Merow, a gifted producer whose blend of electronic and emotional pop caught the attention of mentors. Her time at the Academy in 2022 proved to be a catalyst: shortly after, she performed on major festival stages and released music that reflected both polish and authenticity.

Another rising talent is Polen, whose melodic style and ear for unique sound design earned praise during the 2023 edition. With roots in both classical and electronic music, Polen has since been supported by several labels and artists, a direct result of the exposure and connections fostered at the Academy.

While each participant brings something different, what unites them is potential. The Academy’s goal is not to churn out carbon copies of Garrix, but to nurture individuality while providing the tools to make it sustainable in the real world.

More Than a Masterclass

What makes the JBL Academy stand out is its emphasis on personal growth. This isn’t a TV talent show or a one-time contest. There are no eliminations, no prizes, the reward is the experience itself. The environment is collaborative rather than competitive, pushing artists to help one another and form creative bonds that often extend well beyond the event.

For Martin Garrix, this initiative is personal. “When I was starting out, I was lucky to have people who believed in me and gave me chances. I want to do the same now — but better, and on a bigger scale,” he said in an early interview about the Academy.

As the program continues to grow in scope and ambition, so does its community of alumni — many of whom are already making waves. With each new edition, the JBL x Martin Garrix Academy reinforces the idea that the future of music is global, diverse, and full of possibility. All it needs is a little support — and the right frequency.
