Few collaborations are as iconic in Garrix’s discography as his work with Matisse & Sadko. With Butterflies, the trio reunited once again, joined by singer BARBZ.
The song continues the melodic tradition of their previous collaborations, combining emotional vocals with uplifting progressive house production. Over the years, Garrix and the Russian duo have created several fan favorites, and Butterflies fits naturally into that lineage.
The artwork of Butterflies carries a special meaning for many fans. It shows a glowing butterfly resting on the crane that was used to remove the debris from the Tomorrowland mainstage after the fire. The image feels symbolic, like a quiet message of hope after an unexpected setback. The butterfly itself is also closely linked to the Tomorrowland universe, where it often appears as a symbol of magic, transformation and renewal.
To celebrate the release of the track, a special moment took place in Ibiza. A release party was organized at the Tomorrowland Store on September 25, 2025, the same day as Martin Garrix’s closing show at Ushuaïa. Visitors browsing the shop that day suddenly found themselves in the middle of a surprise set from several STMPD RCRDSartists, with Martin himself stepping behind the decks.
