At the opening of ANIMA, Martin Garrix’s mega show presented in Amsterdam in October 2018, he surprised fans with a brand-new track titled “Mistaken.”
As often happens with his live premieres, Martin kept refining the song over the following months, adjusting details based on fan feedback. The final version was performed on March 15, 2019 at Tomorrowland Winter. Shortly after the festival, Martin confirmed on Twitter that two versions of “Mistaken” would be released.
The track officially dropped on March 31, 2019 at 8:30 AM (Amsterdam time) on Spotify and YouTube. As announced, fans received both an “Original Mix” and a “Club Mix.” The official video features the same striking visual elements introduced during ANIMA in Amsterdam.
One small detail for those who noticed: in the ANIMA video published on YouTube, the name of the opening track had initially been altered to preserve the surprise, as “Mistaken” was still a work in progress back in October.
