On March 15, 2019, just before performing at the first winter edition of Tomorrowland, Martin Garrix gave an interview to French radio station Fun Radio. During the interview, he revealed that his upcoming summer single was nearly finished and scheduled for release by the end of April. He described it as an upbeat track built around a 140 BPM rhythm, featuring both a rapper and a singer.
After a short teasing campaign, Martin officially announced on April 22, 2019 that the track was titled “Summer Days,” a collaboration with Macklemore and Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy. The single was released on April 25, 2019.
The official music video, directed by Colin Tilley, premiered on May 22, 2019. The surreal storyline follows an eccentric elderly woman whose presence causes everyone around her to instantly break into sweat. Martin Garrix, Patrick Stump, and Macklemore all appear in the video.
